Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?

Dr. Doughton knows firsthand what it feels like to sit in the patient’s chair. As a child, she went through orthodontic treatment herself — and the care she received from her dental team left a lasting impression. That experience showed her how much a healthy smile can change a person’s confidence, and she’s been driven to provide that same quality of care ever since.

For Dr. Doughton, dentistry is about people first. She takes the time to get to know every patient and believes that trust is built one appointment at a time. Whether you’ve been avoiding the dentist for years or you’re coming in for a routine cleaning, she’s committed to making sure you feel comfortable, informed, and genuinely cared for.

Where did you study dentistry?

Dr. Stephanie Doughton is originally from Statesville, NC and earned her undergraduate degree in Chemistry from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. She went on to receive her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree as a member of the inaugural class at East Carolina University School of Dental Medicine in Greenville, NC. She completes continuing education annually and is an active member of the American Dental Association.

Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?

When she’s not caring for patients, Dr. Doughton loves getting outside and exploring local trails. On rainy days, you’ll find her deep in a complex board game with friends and family. She also has a growing passion for marine life and spends time maintaining a saltwater fish aquarium at home.
